Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH) is a Non-Governmental Organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the year 2015, but began operation in 2014, using the power of all-encompassing competition to increase students’ learning and educational interest, teachers’ effectiveness, reduce mass failure and examination malpractices, and prepare the youth for their future.

ISERH has been given the opportunity to raise funds for 500 Nigerian teenagers to go back to school through Global Giving platform. This project will send 500 Osun (Nigerian) teenagers back to senior (high) school, provide them 2 textbooks each, notebooks, a mathematical set, a school bag and psycho-social supports. It will also prepare final year students among them for Senior (High) School Certificate Examination (SSCE), pay for the SSCE examinations of outstanding teenagers among them, equip them with 21st century skills, and provide them leadership and entrepreneurship development training.

Challenge

Base on our findings, more than 30,000 teenagers in Osun State are unable to complete and sit for the Senior (High) School Certificate Examinations (SSCE). Majority of them are left to the streets as dropouts, get exposed to cultism, violence and early adolescent parenthood, due to lack of financial and psycho-social supports. Lack of access to school supplies, textbooks, sponsorship for Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), psycho-social and leadership supports are major contributors.

Solution

Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH) provides basic textbooks, notebooks, mathematical sets, school supplies, psycho-social supports, and counseling for these teenagers in order to integrate them back to the system. ISERH will sponsor the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) of final year students among them after proving themselves worthy through scoring 75% & above in Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC). We shall provide them leadership and 21st century skills

Long-Term Impact

500 out-of-school teenagers shall be taken back to classroom and provided psycho-social supports to better enhance their studies. Final year students among them shall get scholarship to write his/her Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and/or Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Through psycho-social support, leadership and entrepreneurial training, they shall be raised as ethical leaders that will grow to end poverty, illiteracy, and poor governance in the state & Nigeria

For this project to be accomplished, ISERH must raise a minimum of $5,000 from 40 donors  or more by September 29, 2017 through Global Giving platform.  Donation can be made in any currency. No amount is too small to be donated. Be one of the first people to make a donation at: http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/help-500-nigerian-teens-go-back-to-school/
