Techpoint Inspired is an annual event where business leaders, career professionals, start-ups and social innovators in the Technology space get together to discuss the way forward to achieve profitable and sustainable businesses in Nigeria.  Techpoint Inspired 2017 was held on the 29th of May at Lifepointe Centre, Lekki, Lagos. This year’s event featured variety of talks and panel sessions on funding/investment, e-commerce, mentorship, Nigerian Tech ecosystem, networking and much more. All sessions were led by professionals and offered ample time for questions at the end of each session. The event featured distinguished panelists like Mrs Cecilia Ibru, Mrs Funke Opeke, Mr Emeka Okoye, Mr Oshone Ikazoboh, Mr Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Mr Victor Asemota, Ajebutter22, Mrs Chioma Ifeanyi-Eze and Mr. Adeleke Ojikutu.

In addition to the panelist sessions, members of the audience were given the opportunity to unveil their business ideas through 1-minute elevator pitches. The panelists gave their feedback on the pitches and the viability of the business ideas based on their wealth of experience. There were opportunities to network with the panelists afterwards and participants were encouraged to seek mentorship opportunities.

I gained tangible lessons from the inspiring stories shared by the speakers and discovered new ideas to help me actualize my business ideas. An important one was about writing down business ideas and conceptualizing in the form of a business plan. This is a key step required not only to be able to present to potential investors, but in order to have a roadmap to guide one as a start-up entrepreneur. The other point that made an impact on me was the fact that to attract a good mentor, one has to work hard to ensure that one is a mentee that would be sought after. I look forward to attending future Techpoint Inspired events with great expectation. I highly recommend it to every Nigerian youth aspiring to be entrepreneurs and business leaders.
